Grow Hayama
Who, What, When, Where, Why...
...and How?

Who?
We are looking for new members to our growing community. The only requirements are that you are over the age of 12 and have an open mind to challenges and learning through trial and error. We are all perfect just as we are, and a mindfulness of each other's differences is a must.
We have three basic rules that members should embrace.
1. Be kind and open minded.
2. Treat all living creatures with love and respect.
3. Do not judge mistakes and failure as bad, they only help us learn and grow.
*Some events will be welcome to outside guests and small children and will be specified at that time.
What?
We are a collective community that takes on new challenges, learns through trial and error, and never stops dreaming. Members will join planned events and projects at first but will also be encouraged to pursue their own dreams and goals. We are here to help you start a career or hobby that you have always wanted to do but didn't know where to start. You can start now!

When?
We will join once every month for a group workshop as well as 4-5 flex days for those who have the time and ambition to grow at the farm. The flex days are free time for you to come at your own pace, experiment or just relax. Students can sign up to be a caretaker for plants that they want to grow, and flex days can be spent focusing on these tasks.
Monthly online lessons will be held on a variety of growing, DIY, and lifestyle courses. We will also engage in community outreach, helping other farmers in Hayama with picking and other group related activities. The growing year never stops so there is always something to plant, pick and tend no matter the season.
Where
Our base farm is located in the hills of Hayama at the end of a valley. On all sides, nothing but trees can be seen and the sound of birds and other critters fills the air. Hayama is also close to the ocean so we will occasionally make excursions to the beach for different activities. The closes train station is JR Zushi and Zushi-Hayama on the Keikyu line. From the station you can catch a bus to Kamiyamaguchi that takes 〜20 minutes. By car, the farm is five minutes from the Zuyo interchange.

Why?
The modern age has brought us convenience but at a price. We have lost our connection to nature and we have forgotten basic skills enjoyed by our ancestors. Of course it isn't necessary to start a fire with flint and steel, but when you can, you are filled with a deep sense of satisfaction that only comes through a DIY life. Now is the time to get reconnected with your basic instincts and get hands on experience in nature with us.
